Space2 and David Hamilton present the community performance project...

Dubwise Lik

rga ypy ery trh ru

Following the sell-out productions, Come Skank Wid Eye and Heartbeat Riddim Chant, Space2 returned to the West Yorkshire Playhouse with its latest community spectacular Dubwise Lik.  Under the narrative eye of actor/writer Joe Williams, the show tells the story of Donovan Ottley, onetime hustler and criminal turned peacemaker. Tracing the history of his family from the island of St Kitts to industrial Leeds, Dubwise Lik recounts Ottley’s encounters with injustice and prejudice and his search for solutions.

Once again Dubwise Lik unites dancers and choreographers David Hamilton, Gee Goodison and Pauline Mayers, David’s company Regeyeshun Dance and singer/composer Christella Litras.

The production also  includes a vibrant line-up of youth and community dance groups including Backbone, RJC Dance, Northern School of Contemporary Dance Youth Group; Leeds Young Authors and youth vocal group Caution.

The feedback from the performances...

“The Dubwise Lik ‘experience’ was a hugely enjoyable and memorable one. Magnificent music, electrifying dance and thought provoking recitation and costume.

It is a long time since a creative production evoked such a deep personal response. I wished that all my colleagues and friends could be there to see, hear and feel as I did.”

"First, may I say thank you for an absolutely fantastic evening this last Saturday.  The music, the dance but most of all, all those taking part made it such a memorable evening."

"You should be so proud of yourselves ....and I am proud to be working for an organisation that creates work of that quality and relevance."

"It was a wonderful production and judging from feedback from the audience many left feeling inspired and enthused. I'm sure the young people also got a great deal from being involved."
